Goldring and Thomson have been collaborating on musical ideas for over 20 years. Enablers is one form in which this collaboration has taken shape. In October of 2010 they were given a one month residency at the Marin Headlands Center For The Arts to develop musical ideas relating to the environment of the Marin Headlands, a former Army base situated just to the north of the Golden Gate Bridge. In the old gymnasium the pair laid out over a dozen electric guitars and created a self generating wave of ever changing feedback and tone. This experience had a profound effect on their songwriting. The two songs presented here are a direct result of that experience. The introductory tonal wave preceding each tune is but a snippet of countless hours recorded during the residency.

I saw Haress support Godspeed in Coventry over the weekend and haven't been able to stop myself thinking about their set. It doesn't surprise me that they turn out to be from Bishop's Castle because this is what the welsh border sounds like. Uncanny, unsettling, beautiful. Wonderful discovery, SteveC

this is a living beast of a record, you can hear it heaving in feedback breaths in settlement and panting them out in old smoke, a feverish continuum of a record, each song an iteration of the last, I listen and I can't remember which song did what, cos they were all hauling for some golden horizon. eldudowski
